Traceability, reliability and accuracy lead to lab’s success
Special to the Journal
The 569th Electronics Maintenance Squadron’s Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory has successfully passed recertification by the Air Force Metrology and Calibration Program Evaluation Team.
The certification team validated the lab’s capability to perform equipment measurements that are safe, accurate, reliable and traceable.
“We had to pass six critical areas, each pertaining to a particular function,” said Carol Pagura, squadron director.
The six areas included: the management system, the measurement capability assessment, the quality program, the environmental control system, the proficiency testing program and the facility.
The Robins PMEL performs calibrations across a wide range of disciplines, on equipment ranging from hearing conservation to microwave measurements to torque wrenches and gauges used for aircraft jack stands.
Precision measurement is paramount for Air Force weapons systems.
“I am very proud of everything PMEL has done and where we’re going,” said Col. Theresa Humphrey, who commands the 402nd Electronics Maintenance Group, parent unit of the 569th EMXS.
