Americans for Schools donates software valued at $1.16 million
Americans for Schools announced Tuesday, at a press conference held Westside Elementary School, the donation of software valued at $1.16 million for 31 schools in the county.
“We are excited about the opportunity to help,” stated Lee Pickard of Americans for Schools (AFS).
The sponsorship provided funding for the implementation of STRIDE Academy curriculum software, according to a release from the Board of Education.
Pickard explained that although AFS is a not-for-profit. “It is not a charity. All of us believe in hard work,” he said.
He went on to say that “each child has earned” the grants that were given to the schools, citing the essays elementary school students wrote to receive cash or technology rewards.
School Superintendent Robin Hines said in a release, “Several of our schools have successfully used the STRIDE Academy software as a teaching tool. Now all of our elementary and middle school students will have access to this engaging online resource. Schools that were funding the annual cost will now be able to use those funds for other needs, thanks to AFS.”
