Westfield tennis takes on Southland, TSA, Mt. de Sales
In Wednesday’s tennis match for Westfield at Southland in Americus, the Westfield girls’ team prevailed with a 4-1 victory over the Raiders. Individual winners were Valerie McLure, Laura Johnson, Sydney Barker, Jessica Southerland, and Amy Spillers (eighth grader in her first varsity match).
The boys team fell 1-4 in a tight contest, with several matches reaching tie-breakers. Individual winners were Jake Schleiger and Tyler Moreland.
Westfield tennis had team matches against both Mt. de Sales and Tattnall Square the first week of March:
Westfield vs. Tatnall
Girls’ match score: 5-0
Winners: Stephanie Campbell, McLure, Hannah Livingston, Southerland and Chelsea Williams, and Johnson and Barker.
Boys’ match score: 4-1
Winners: Lance Parks, Trey Spillers, JC Coleman and Wade Walker, and Schleiger and Moreland.
Westfield vs. MDS
Girls’ match score: 3-2
Winners: Campbell, McLure, Livingston
Boys’ match score: 5-0
Winners: Parks, Alex Shelton, Spillers, Coleman and Walker, and Schleiger and Moreland
