Sen. Ross Tolleson

(R-Perry) was recently appointed to Co-Chair the National Conference of State

Legislatures Environment Committee for 2012-2014.

“It is an honor to be selected by such a prestigious organization to co-chair a

committee that I am so passionate about,” said Sen. Tolleson. “The

environment is a precious asset that we as legislators must work hard to

maintain and protect. I look forward to learning with fellow colleagues

from across the country to develop ideas and initiatives to keep our environment

and natural resources safe for future generations.”

The Environment Committee is responsible for educating Congress and federal

agencies as to state concerns regarding these issues and serves as a forum for

legislators and staff to learn about and share information about options being

considered in other states. The committee will focus on various topics such as, alternative

energy, natural disasters, nuclear waste and water policy.

The NCSL is a bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of

the nation’s 50 states, its commonwealths and territories. NCSL provides

research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange

ideas on the most pressing state issues.
