300 bowling at Gold Cup
Henderson Collins, Bill Vannoy and Mitch Gibson, all of Jackson, N.C. each bowled a perfect 300 game during the 22nd annual Southeast Bowling Association tournament. All were bowling on the same pair and they all bowled their perfect game on game number 4 of 6. All three bowlers are retired from the USMC, and are members of the Onslow County USBC.
“As the first bowler, Gibson, scored his 300 game, there was some cheering, so I went to see what had happened,” said Jay Taylor, association president of the Middle Georgia USBC. “As the second bowler, Vannoy, made strikes 10 thru 12 the crowd roared a little more. When Henderson, the third to roll his perfect game, got strike No. 12, the bowling center, Gold Cup Bowling in Warner Robins, went wild.
“Everyone was ecstatic. Everyone had stopped bowling at this point to congratulate these bowlers. Never in all my years have I witness such an accomplishment by three bowlers in the same game.
“As some may not know, a 300 in bowling is a perfect game that many never accomplish. Having achieved perfection in this tournament, we wanted to recognize them.”
