The

Warner Robins City Council tied up some loose ends at its last meeting of the

year Monday night.

The

council approved an ordinance that grandfathered business that has gaming

machines to close to churches or schools to continue operating.

In

October the council revised the ordinance making it stricter than before. The

changes required security cameras to be placed in the businesses that have the

machines as well as new distance requirements from schools to 200 feet from 100

feet.

The

city found that eight businesses with the coin-operated machines were closer

than the new 200 feet requirement but agreed to grandfather them in.

In

other business the council voted on a bereavement policy for all full-time

employees that have a family member that dies, it would be separate from sick

leave.

The

council also invited the 2007 Warner Robins American Little League team that

won the World Series to the meeting for a five-year reunion.

Correction 12/21/12: The distance in the

gaming machine ordinance is measured in yards, not feet.  A business that

has the machines must be 200 yards away from a school.
