Toy Drive for Central Georgia Foster Children
The Perry Area Chamber of
Commerce joined the staff and resident leaders of the Houston Lake Apartment
Community this morning to celebrate their toy drive for Central Georgia Foster
Children. Otis Ingram explained the program saying “We have 6 community leaders
who have bought gifts for 17 children between the ages of 17 months and 17
years old, who would not have Christmas ordinarily.
The foster parents
aren’t paid enough or given allowance by the state to get gifts so communities
and organizations have to pitch in. Our staff has coordinated and worked
with residents to get leaders and teams divided up so they could make sure each
child was cared for during the holidays. They shopped for gifts and
wrapped them and put them under our tree in clubhouse before being taken to
DFACS in Houston County so they can deliver them to the children.”
