Three arrested for smuggling drugs in Houston Co. jail

Three people were arrested on Tuesday for trying to smuggle narcotics into the Houston County jail.

According to a press release from the Houston County Sheriff’s Office Ashley Nicole Mock and James Wesley Tolbert are accused of trying to smuggle prescription drugs into the jail and have them delivered to Mac Jered McCain, who was being held in the jail on charges of financial card fraud and violation of probation Superior Court.

The release states that the investigation began after a detention officer discovered a substance hidden in a letter that was meant for delivery to McCain, 33, of Fort Valley.

The three were charged with use of a communication device of a correctional facility to obtain illegal drugs, possession of a controlled substance by prisoner, conspiracy to violate control substance, conspiracy to commit a crime and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
