Nine students from Perry, Veteran, Northside, and Warner Robins High schools participated in the JOY Foundation’s two week, summer enrichment program.
The Dream Job Apprentice Program (DJAP) provided innovative opportunities for youth to develop work readiness skills and receive exposure to possible career pathways.
During the last two weeks of June, the DJAP interns participated in workshops on job readiness skills (ie showing up for work on time, proper work attire, completing job application and writing business letters) and reported to worksites to receive hands-on learning. At the conclusion of the program, the interns gave oral presentations on their work experiences and were issued stipends for fulfilling the requirements of the program.
The Foundation was privileged to collaborate with a range of local partnerships to advance their programs:
Fit & Firm Fitness for Women
Forget-Me-Not-Florist
Fussell’s Urological Health Center
Joyce Mack-Leonard Family Counseling
More Than Mail
Noel Dental Practice
The Dean’s List
State Farm Insurance
Applebee’s
Burger King
Chick-Fil-A
Firehouse Subs
Sonic
Zaxby’s
Moe’s Southwest Grill
The summer program was designed to foster meaningful learning opportunities as the students developed work skills for transitioning to productive careers. This year’s project was funded by grants from Flint Energies, Walmart, and Georgia Power and in-kind donations.
The JOY Foundation gladly accepts donations from the public to further their mission to promote culture awareness and educational enrichment programs. Information can be attained at, wracjoyfoundation@cloudaccess.net.
