Student of the month: Urmit Patel

Committee of the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce announced the Student of the

Month for December 2012.

 
 

Urmit Patel, son

of Sunil and Parul Patel, was awarded the December Student of the Month during a

presentation held at Perry High School on Dec. 6. Board Member for the Houston

County Board of Education Skip Dawkins presented the award to Urmit on behalf

of the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce.

Urmit has an impressive resume with a GPA of 4.0 comprised of extensive AP

classes. He ranks third in his class at Perry High School out of 291 students. Urmit’s

honors include First Honors/Honor Roll (2010-2012), Georgia Certificate of

Merit (2012), National Honor Society (2011-2012), Governor’s Honors Program

Nominee (2011-2012), Governor’s Honors Program Finalist (2012), Highest Average

in AP Biology (2012), Highest Average in Accelerated Math III (2012), Highest

Average in AP World History (2011), Highest Average in AP Psychology (2011),

Highest Average in Honors Chemistry (2011), Highest Average in Accelerated Math

II (2011), Highest Average in Honors Biology (2010), Highest Average in

American Government (2010), Highest Average in Ninth Grade Honors Literature

(2010). 

Urmit is active in Perry High School clubs and activities, which include the

cross country team (2012), student council (2009-2012), Future Business Leaders

of America (2011-2012), spring musical (2011, 2012), one-act play (2009, 2010),

National Honor Society (2011-2012), vice president (2012), junior class (2011-2012),

secretary/treasurer (2011-2012), math team (2009-2012), math league

(2009-2012).

Internship experience for Urmit includes serving as a summer intern at Warner

Robins Air Force Base in June 2011. Urmit has also volunteered at Perry

Hospital from 2010 through 2011. His special interests include reading and

do-it-yourself projects.

After graduation Urmit plans on attending the Massachusetts Institute of

Technology.
