A football coach with two state championships was approved Tuesday as the new head man and athletic director at Perry High School.

Erik Soliday, who led Americus High School to state championships in 2000 and 2001, will replace Stacey Harden, who resigned in April. Currently, Soliday is athletic director at Turner County High in Ashburn.

The Houston County Board of Education voted for Soliday’s hiring by a 5-0 vote at Tuesday’s meeting.
