Spillers Orthodontics brings in new scanner

Special to the Journal

Dr. Don Spillers has wanted to straighten teeth since he wore braces as a teenager. When you combine that drive, with a passion for technology, you get a successful orthodontist who is focused on keeping up with the latest technology to better serve his patients.

“Technology has revolutionized the way we live; iPods that hold thousands of songs, HDTV, Skype and smart phones that take high quality photos one can instantly send to a friend,” Spillers explained. Dr. Spillers announced a new technology to his practice, the iOC Scanner.

The iOC Scanner eliminates the need for messy impression material in the mouth by creating a highly-accurate digital scan of the teeth. These digital files can then be used to study the teeth, fabricate appliances and Invisalign® aligners. Dr. Spillers sees the iOC Scanner as the next step of moving his orthodontic practice into the future.

This state of the art equipment has many positive attributes. It will benefit patients who have a strong gag reflex and find impressions uncomfortable. The scanner will speed up the orthodontic plan of action; it is more accurate and precise than taking conventional impressions. All of this translates into more precise and timely treatment for patients.

A few years ago, Dr. Spillers was awarded Premier Preferred Provider status from Align Technology, the makers of Invisalign. The highly coveted status places him in the top seven percent of all doctors experienced in the Invisalign system nationwide. Spillers Orthodontics is the only Invisalign Premier Provider in Warner Robins and the only orthodontic practice in Central Georgia who offers Invisalign Teen®. The investment in the scanner is part of the continued commitment Dr. Spillers has to his patients of all ages.

This only skims the surface of Spillers Family Orthodontics tagline, “Where Great Smiles Begin”. This new equipment is just one example of how Dr. Spillers is still driving forward to provide his patients with the best care possible.
