Sogadera Club’s first meeting
The Sogadera Club held its first meeting of 2013-2014 on Sept. 12. The Sogadera Club is a women’s civic organization formed in 1970 by 10 charter members. Sogadera is a Native American word meaning “Sisters Together.” Club members work on projects with organizations like Perry Volunteer Outreach Meals on Wheels, Abba House, Project Agape love and on other issues and needs that club members suggest.
At the year’s first meeting, Krysti Hernandez, Public Relations Director and Stephanie Amerson, Public Relations Co-coordinator of Abba House spoke to the club about Abba House. Abba House’s program is a 15 month residential program for women struggling with life controlling issues. The focus is for the women to come out of the program able to function in society and reunite with their families. It has a local branch in Perry.
The new Officers of the Sogadera Club are: President Debbie Pearson, Vice President Carol Davis, Secretary Nancy Barton, Treasurer Dianne Ayer and Parliamentarian Annette Waites. New members are Patsy Hutto, Sue Lay and Jan McCord.
