Georgia Southern softball earned a split in day two of the

2013 Citrus Classic at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex with a 9-1 win

over Boston University and a loss to Wisconsin Saturday. Houston County High’s

Kourtny Thomas’ fourth home run of the season sparked a nine-run fourth inning

in the BU game that gave GSU the five-inning victory.

A day after dropping a 2-1 result in extra innings to the BU

Terriers, Georgia Southern got revenge.

Thomas opened the inning with a solo home run to left field

to open the biggest inning of the season for the Eagles.

Sophomore pitcher

Brooke Red of Northside High earned her first win of the season by going the

distance. She fanned six batters and allowed one run, a fifth inning RBI

single, off three hits.
