Rebuilding Together and Lowe’s repairs a WR house

After two long months, Aaron Russell of Warner Robins finally got to unveil his repaired house located at 618 American Blvd.

Rebuilding Together, an organization whose mission is to provide a safe and healthy home for every person and Lowe’s teamed up to repair Russell’s house which was in desperate need of a fix up.

Russell is in a wheel chair and has been living in his house for 12 years. His cousin told him about the Rebuilding Together program and from there the rest is history.

” I am happy they came out and were able to repair my house. I couldn’t have afforded to do this on my own,” shared Russell.

The house got a new roof, electric, siding, floor, stove, laundry room and cabinets. The flooring was ripped up and vinyl and hardwood was installed to make the house handicap accessible. The shutters were painted and the yard was fixed. A handicap accessible bathroom was also installed.

The project took longer than expected because Rebuilding Together ran out of funds. However, the city of Warner Robins donated money so the team could finish the project.

“Russell was very patient throughout this whole process. Rebuilding Together sticks with you until the job is done,” stated Jerome Stephens, president of Rebuilding Together.

On average there was about 25 volunteers and contractors working to repair Russell’s house.

Rebuilding Together had a unique volunteer that traveled all the way from Tomahawk, Wisconsin to help out. According to Stephens, Tim Glaeser was heading down south for a vacation. He saw the Rebuilding Together website and gave the organization a call.

“He volunteered to paint the entire side of the house, free of charge and he did it in four days,” shared Stephens.

Darzell Cole, the credit manager at Lowe’s spoke on behalf of the company.

” Lowe’s is honored to be a supporter and sponsor of this organization. They help a lot of people,” stated Cole.
