After receiving more than 800 applications, 403 employees at

Robins Air Force Base were chosen for early retirement or separation.

According to a release, the base offered 593 workers a cash

incentive of up to $25,000 during the recent round of voluntary early

retirements and separation (VERA/VSIP), which began in February. The base

release stated that 189 people declined the offer.

This round of voluntary early retirement and separation is

not related to sequestration.

“They are two distinct and unrelated efforts,” Stacy Wood, a

human resource specialist in civilian personnel, said. “VERA/VSIP is about

shaping the workforce to align with future requirements, while sequestration is

a budget driven exercise.”

The Warner

Robins Air Logistics Complex employees made up the majority of employees who

accepted the offers.

“The main reason for this round of VERA/VSIP was to better

align the complex workforce with the incoming workload,” Wood stated in the

release. “As our workload has decreased, the workforce needed to be shaped so

it is the right size to match the workload.”

Those who accepted the offer will have to leave by April 30.

Currently, there is not a plan for another round of

VERA/VSIP.
