Perry Kiwanis presents March Scholar Athlete award to Daniel Ward
The Perry Kiwanis Club recognizes that there are many outstanding young people in the community. Each month during this school year, the Kiwanis Club recognizes a Scholar Athlete from Perry High School and/or The Westfield School. The students honored excel not only academically, but athletically as well. The Perry Kiwanians are proud of all the young people in Perry who represent these schools and community so well.
Daniel Ward has been playing Select soccer since he was 9 years old at CGSA in Warner Robins. His Select team is currently in Classic I. He has been a four-year starter as a soccer player at Perry High.
In the Fall of 2010 Daniel tried out and made the Olympic Development Program (ODP). As a member of the 95 boys ODP squad he was of one of 20 out of 40 boys to be select to go to Region Camp in Alabama.
As a freshman for Perry, he was selected as Second Team All Region and was the team leader in assists. He was also Honorable Mention one the All Middle Georgia Boys Soccer Team.
As a sophomore Ward was the leading scorer at Perry High with 32 goals and was first team All Region striker and first team All Middle Georgia Soccer team as a striker.
As a junior Ward continued as the leading scorer at Perry High with 23 goals. Again he was first team All Region.
As a senior he continues to play at Perry High.
In addition Ward has been a four-year starter in football for Perry High. He has been the field goal and kick off specialist for three years and did the punting as well this past fall.
Ward will graduate with an overall GPA of 4.0. and will continue to play soccer at the collegiate level. He has signed an athletic scholarship to play at Middle Georgia State College.
