Special to the Journal
The Perry High School Theatre Department will present Dora
the Explorer on March 16, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. in the Perry High
School Theatre. Tickets are $5. Small children who sit exclusively in
their parent’s lap are $2.
Each child who attends will receive a free official Nickelodeon Dora the
Explorer flag to help Dora in the show and to keep as a souvenir. Tickets are
expected to sell quickly for this fun, child-friendly show. The incredible
costumes (pictured and attached) were sewn by Noel Jordan, Perry High School
drama teacher.
Ahoy there! Dora the Explorer is setting sail with her brand new live musical
voyage, Dora’s Pirate Adventure! Join Dora, her cousin Diego, Boots the Monkey
and the rest of their friends as they embark on an exciting trip to Treasure
Island. They will need the audience to help them cross Dancing Mountain, go
through the Silly Singing Bridge and confront the Pirate Piggies. Along the
way, the audience will use their map-reading, counting, musical and language
skills to successfully get Dora to the treasure and end it all happily onstage
with a “yo-ho-ho.”
Drama Director Joe Sendek commented, “We are thrilled to offer this
performance! Our new teacher, Mrs. Noel Jordan, is an incredible addition to
Perry High School and our school system – just wait until you see the
costumes!” He added that he is excited about the drama program and the future
of Perry High theatre.
