O’Neal top 10 at Ray Guy kicking academy at Tampa

The Ray Guy/ProKicker.com Kicking Academy announced that Wayne O’Neal of Westfield has been named to its 2012 National Kicking Championship Top 10 leaderboard for punters in the scholarship division.
 
The complete listing can be found at nationalkickingchampionship.com. O’Neal was with an elite group of high school athletes who attended the Ray Guy/ProKicker.com National Kicking Championship held in Tampa.

 
“Kickers, punters, and long snappers have a tremendous opportunity to go ‘head to head’ in competition, train with the most talented athletes in teh country, and prove who is the best,” said NFL All-Time Team member, Ray Guy.
 
Athletes who attended the National Kicking Championship were individually evaluated and graded on facets of kicking, punting and long snapping such as accuracy, timing and distance. O’Neal’s performance put him at No. 7 on the list.
 
The 6-2, 205-pound O’Neal had an average distance of 38 yards and a best of 53 yards. His best hang time was 4.22 seconds and the average was 3.61 seconds.
