The 2012-13 basketball seasons for the Northside High girls
and Perry High boys ended in GHSA second round road losses over the weekend.
On Friday, the Lady Eagles, No. 3 seed from Region 2-AAAAA,
played away from Warner Robins for the second time in the tournament. They
could not keep Forest Park High, located in Clayton County, from advancing to
the quarterfinals for a fourth consecutive season.
Forest Park began the game with an 11-2 run and held on to
win 39-30. Tia Williams of Northside had five points in the first quarter (nine
for the game), which ended at 12-7. Forest Park went 12 minutes without scoring
a field goal, but never relinquished the lead. Two more jumpers paced the home
team to a 29-15 advantage at the half.
Shambria Smith and Williams hit jumpers in an 8-0 Northside
run in the second half that trimmed the margin down to five. The visitors would
not score in the final 2:50 of regulation.
Perry High’s boys, a No. 3 seed from Region 2-AAAA, was
victim of a history-making effort for Eagle’s Landing High Saturday in
McDonough. Eagle’s Landing won 86-50, the most points this program has scored
and its widest margin of victory ever in a playoff game.
