Leyton Pinckney made a name for himself as a home-run hitter
for Warner Robins American Little League baseball.
Chip Champion sees a bright future for Pinckney on the
basketball court as well.
Pinckney’s two free throws in the final 10 seconds of
regulation gave Champion’s seventh-grade basketball team at Westfield the
finals victory in the tournament for the GISA’s Middle Georgia schools
Thursday. Westfield defeated Tattnall Square, the host team in Macon, 43-42.
Westfield led at halftime 20-19 and built its advantage as much as six in the
second half. Tattnall Square, though, mounted its comeback and scored a
3-pointer to lead by two.

four seconds to go and made both shots for his team to claim the first-place
trophy.
