Former city employee guilty of stealing money
The former Centerville employee accused of stealing nearly
$11,000 from the city plead guilty on Monday to the charges brought against
her.
Cinnamon Adams Hovezak, a former City Hall administrative
assistant plead guilty to one county of theft by taking by fiduciary and one
count of computer forgery.
Hovezak received a total of 20 years probation and was
mandated to pay full restitution to the city.
The incident happened in 2010 when Hovezak was pocketing
cash that customers brought in for bill payments, taxes and other fees.
According to police, Hovezak tried to cover up the cash
amounts she took by waiting until a check came in for the same amount and then
recorded the cash payment as a check. The city’s checks and balances system
eventually caught up with Hovezak.
