Florida court sets Atheist Day

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

In the State of Florida, an atheist created a case against Easter and the Passover Holy days according to a story that was published recently in the Our Lady Of Victory Catholic School bulletin. The church is located on Kirkley Road in Tyrone.

According to the story, the atheist had hired an attorney to enter a discrimination suit against Christians and Jews because of their observances of their holy days. Their argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days.

The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring “case dismissed.”

The atheist’s lawyer immediately stood and objected to the ruling saying, “Your honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and other religious events. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays.”

The judge leaned forward in his chair and said, “But you do. Your client counselor is woefully ignorant.”

The atheist’s lawyer replied, “Your honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists.”

The judge said, “The calendar says April 1 is April Fools Day. Psalm 14:1 states, “The fool says in his heart ‘There is no God.’ Thus it is the opinion of this court that if your client says that there is no God, then he is a fool. Therefore April 1 is his day. Court is adjourned.”

God bless a judge that know his scripture!

Let me close my column today with this story. An atheist was walking thru the woods one day and heard a rumbling in a bush behind him. He looked back and a big black bear came out of the bush and began to chase him.

The atheist ran as fast as he could but the bear was getting closer and closer to him. As he ran up a hill he stumbled and fell. He looked back, and the bear was almost on top of him with his right paw about to strike him.

The atheist shouted “God please help me.” A voice from above replied, “You have denied me all of your life and now you want me to help you. Are you ready to become a Christian?” The atheist said, “No, but please make the bear a Christian.”

The voice from above said, “Alright, I will do that. I will make the bear a Christian.” The bear dropped to his knees put a paw under his chin and prayed, “Thank you God for this food that I am about to eat today.”

Not a true story, but it makes a very good point.
