Mike Brashear has announced the he plans to run for the mayor’s office in
Warner Robins.
Brashear currently holds a council seat for Post 4, but said
he wants the job of mayor because he believes his “strong business background”
is just what the city of Warner Robins needs.
Brashear hinted at a few things he would fight for if
elected mayor. Brashear said the transit system, revitalizing the business
district, generating a new enthusiasm and using good business sense when it
comes to the budget are just a few things he would focus on if elected mayor.
Brashear is a businessman. He moved back to Warner Robins from Chicago in 1981
with Northrop Corporation as part of the initial cadre of personnel
establishing the Warner Robins Regional Support Center.
In 1984, he was transferred by Northrop to San Antonio, Texas, but returned to
Warner Robins in 1995.
Brashear and his wife, Becky Walker, have three children and six grandchildren.
He is a member of Southside Baptist Church and the Sonshine Gang Life Group.
“I bring a broad base of experience that encompasses large (and) small business
and (I) believe that gives me a good basis for leadership of our growing city,”
Brashear said.
The councilman will have to vacate his seat upon qualifying
for the mayor’s race. He plans to qualify in August, but until then he said he
would continue to work hard for the citizens while in his Post 4 seat.
Brashear urged those gathered at his announcement meeting
held on Tuesday to “vote for a better and stronger Warner Robins.”
