Broughton wins state high jump event Thursday
In one of the first events of Day 1 of the GHSA boys track and field championships Thursday, Veterans High’s Malik Broughton won the Class AAAA high jump with a leap of six feet, eight inches.
The senior, at the sectional event held April 27 in Statesboro, recorded a high jump of seven feet, two inches. That, according to Mile Split United States, was tied for the second best by a high schooler in the nation this spring.
