Bonaire Middle FCCLA receives Superior Chapter Award

In

just its second year as an affiliated FCCLA Chapter, Bonaire Middle FCCLA Chapter

received the Georgia National Fair FCCLA Superior Chapter Award.  To achieve this award, a FCCLA Chapter

has to accumulate the highest number of points from FCCLA Competitive Events

held at the GA National Fair.  Bonaire Middle School FCCLA Chapter has been the recipient of

this award two years in a row and since the award’s inception.  The chapter received a plaque and a

$500 cash prize.  Chapter prize money will go towards

supporting future FCCLA projects and programs at Bonaire Middle School this

school year and individual prize money will be awarded to the individual

students in each individual category.

The FCCLA competitive events BMS entered were: Chili Cook-Off, Peanut

Recipe Contest, Chapter Booth and Chapter Brochure.

Janeyce

Brown, a seventh grade student, placed first in the FCCLA CHILI COOK-OFF EVENT,

held on October 9 at the GA National Fairgrounds.  Janeyce displayed her culinary

expertise when she prepared “Janeyce’s Sweet and Easy Chili” using

ground turkey meat to incorporate a healthy meal entre. She received a blue

rosette ribbon and a $100 cash prize as the first place winner and the FCCLA Chapter

received a chapter plaque.

Gabby

Bibb, a sixth grade student, placed third in the FCCLA PEANUT RECIPE CONTEST,

held on October 10. Gabby created an original recipe using Georgia peanuts as an ingredient entitled“Peanut Butter Bar”.  She

prepared two exact samples along with a copy of her recipe for the judges to

taste and score. This is the first year that this contest has been offered for

FCCLA chapter members.  Gabby

received a white rosette ribbon and a cash prize of $50 for receiving third

place in the event.

Bonaire

Middle School FCCLA Chapter also received second place in the FCCLA CHAPTER BOOTH EVENT which

was created by chapter members and displayed during the entire ten days of the

fair in the Miller Murphy Howard Building.  The chapter received a plaque, ribbon and $450 cash prize. This

year’s booth was entitled “Find Your FCCLA #realitycheck” which incorporated

this year’s state and national FCCLA theme.  The booth illustrated various ways FCCLA Chapter members

gain leadership skills through FCCLA programs, projects and activities.  Photos displayed in the booth included

examples of how Bonaire Middle FCCLA Chapter Members have achieved success with

their own individual #realitychecks. The display included examples of Bonaire Middle School FCCLA

Chapter Members’ participation in:

  • Leadership

    Development by running and serving as a FCCLA Chapter Officer.

  • Community

    Service Projects where students carry out projects that improve

    the quality of life in their communities.

  • State

    and National FCCLA Leadership Meetings to teach chapter members

    about leadership skills.

  • Career

    Connection Program where students acquire college and career

    readiness skills.

  • Networkingwith legislators, business leaders, post-secondary

    facilities and peers and also promoting FCCLA.

  • State

    and National Competitive Events where students create

    and carry out projects through STAR Events

    or other FCCLA state and national events.


Finally, the

chapter also received first place in the FCCLA

CHAPTER BROCHURE EVENT and was named the CHAPTER

BROCHURE DIVISION WINNER for their creation of a

brochure targeting male audience membership in FCCLA.  The chapter received a plaque, ribbon and a $100 cash prize.
