The Houston County High

School Black and Silver Brigade boarded four buses on March 13, bound for New

York City to march in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The bus ride was a mere 20

hours and upon arrival the group checked in to a hotel just off Times Square.

Students attended a Broadway performance of Phantom

of the Opera, visited the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, 9/11

memorial, Rockefeller Center and shopped the nine floors at Macy’s Department

Store. On their last day in the city, they participated in the St. Patrick’s

Day Parade in a heavy snow storm that NYC local weather forecasters claimed

would only occur south of the city. Wished Ben Jones had been with us! After

the parade, the group attended a dinner cruise on the Hudson River to see the skyline

at night.  After the cruise, the band boarded their buses and arrived back

in Warner Robins around 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
