David Umphreyville, a member of the 2007 Little League World Series champions from Warner Robins, signed a baseball scholarship to attend South Georgia State College in Douglas.

Umphreyville’s coach at Houston County High School, Jason Brett, said “David has worked hard to get here.”

Umphreyville started all four years of high school as the Bears’ catcher.

Brett said his receiver had a great senior year. He batted .400 this spring and had 22 RBI.

After signing the necessary paperwork, Umphreyville said, “I thank God for letting me play this game that I love, that we all love.”

South Georgia merged with Waycross College.
