Bank robber sentenced to 20 years in prison
sentenced on January 17, 2013, in Houston County Superior Court for one count
of robbery by intimidation. Judge Katherine K. Lumsden sentenced Aultman
to 20 years and ordered that he serve 15 years in prison. In
addition, Aultman was ordered to pay restitution and to have no contact with
the victims of the crime.
The charge in this case stemmed
from a September 16th, 2011 incident where Aultman walked into a
local bank and passed a note to the teller that demanded money and claimed to
have a bomb nearby.
Jay Aultman was prosecuted by
Houston County Assistant District Attorney Jacob W. Poole.
“The
Citizens of Houston County need to know that crimes of intimidation will be
punished severely,” Assistant District Attorney Jacob Poole stated in the release. “This man senselessly wreaked havoc on the lives of those
involved in this robbery. We all
should be unafraid to go to work and earn a living for our families. His poor decisions have earned him a spot behind bars for a long time. I am very pleased with the work of Warner
Robins Police Department and the sentence handed down by Judge Lumsden.”
According to the release, District Attorney George Hartwig added these comments: “Crimes that threaten our citizens and
local businesses will not go unpunished in Houston County. My office will
continue to seek a full measure of justice for the people of Houston County.“
