Fire destroys family’s home in Warner Robins

A family’s residence and nearly all their belongings were destroyed by flames on the evening of January 24. The mobile home, located at 519 Dunbar Road, suffered extensive damages, and in the aftermath, it is considered to be a total loss.

According to Chief Christopher Stoner of the Houston County Fire Department, the call regarding the structure fire was received shortly after 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, and firefighters responded accordingly. Several fire and law enforcement personnel could be seen on and around the property, and police had a portion of Dunbar Road blocked off to divert traffic away from the scene. Residents from surrounding dwellings in the mobile home community stood outside and watched from a distance as firefighters worked diligently to bring the situation under control.

“It was an older mobile home, and the damage was significant,” Stoner told Houston Home Journal. “Thankfully, there were no injuries involved.”

Stoner said the husband of the family was the only member of the residence that was on the scene, but it is

uncertain at this time whether the man was inside the home when the fire started or if he had left the residence and returned to find it engulfed. It is also undetermined what ignited the blaze or in which room of the home that it got started.

“We don’t have a cause yet; we don’t have those details” Stoner confirmed. “Our investigators are still working on that and meeting with the homeowners to try to nail down what happened.”

Despite the uncertainty, Stoner said that as of Monday afternoon, there was nothing suspicious about the fire. The preliminary investigation was still ongoing at press time on Tuesday afternoon.
