Air Force Reserve volunteers help wash Museum aircraft
A group of dedicated volunteers led by CMSgt.Ray Sturm from Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command systematically washed outside aircraft at the Museum of Aviation this summer. In the past three months they have washed 15 aircraft: EC-135N, HU-16, KC-97, AC-130A, RB-57A, C-119C, B-1B, A-10A, F-89J, RF-101C, F-101B, F-86D, T-39A, WB-66D, C-141C.
The Museum normally washes an aircraft twice a year but staff cuts have made it difficult to do it once a year.
“These volunteers have been a great help to us in keeping the aircraft clean and slowing the inevitable deterioration due to outside exposure,” said Ken Emery, Museum Director. “Every little bit helps and we are grateful for their dedication and hard work to help us keep the Museum of Aviation one of the best in the country.”
