Almost ready for the Perry Weekend of Champions

Event: April 24-26

According to the Local Ownership Team Head Coach, Emory Wilson, “Our local churches (28) and supporters have again stepped forward and championed – pun intended – the upcoming prison weekend whole-heartedly by providing facilities for meetings, funds, and Teammates (volunteers) so the Gospel can be shared with the inmates housed in seven state prisons, youth detention centers and provide a professional athlete/program in several schools.”

This event is the seventh time the Bill Glass Ministry has been to Middle Georgia for a 2 1/2 day weekend event; every three years over the course of 21 years.{more}}

The Perry Local Ownership Team is humbled to be the only Local Ownership Team (other than Dallas/Ft. Worth) across the USA to have been able to meet the financial budgets each and every time.

Also, the financial budgets were raised for the large city-wide crusades Perry hosted in 1988 and 2005. This is unusual since the Middle Georgia area is so much less populated than the big cities of Chicago, Fresno, San Antonio, Atlanta and many others that host events each year for the Ministry.

Wilson said, “The only way this could be achieved is with the outstanding, hard-working Local Ownership Team organization chart listed below) that is supported by approximately 300 active Teammates who live in Middle Georgia.”

With the event approximately 75 days out, there are many, many details to be finalized for transportation, meals, rooming, and materials to be distributed to the inmates, etc. for the anticipated 450 Teammates who will be going with us. Too, the Local Ownership Team is thankful 65 percent of the budget has been raised and is confident the balance will be met over the next 30 days or so.

The Local Ownership Team invites all churches not currently involved, to be involved during this 2 1/2 day event. Wilson commented further that, “The Bill Glass Prison Ministry has developed into a school of evangelism. The Ministry’s mission statement: To assist the church in igniting Christians to share their faith in Jesus Christ is achieved through training prior to the event and then partnering him/her with a veteran Teammate the first day in prison. By the second day, the first time Teammate is a veteran soul winner because 95 percent of those attending lead an inmate to the Lord. This experience provides confidence to talk with members of his family or neighbor about his faith and the love of Jesus Christ.”
