Sen. Larry Walker, R-Perry, recently announced three Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contract awards to address deteriorating roadways in Bleckley, Laurens and Pulaski counties in District 20.

“These three GDOT awards represent another step forward to ensuring our infrastructure is reliable for years to come,” said Walker. “I am happy to see GDOT recognizing the need for improvements in these counties and look forward to the completion of these projects for motorists around our state.”

The first project, located in Bleckley County, is worth more than $2 million and will resurface a total of 6.6 miles along SR 26 from Old Milledgeville Road to SR 87. The second project, worth more than $2.1 million, will address resurfacing in Laurens County on SR 126 from SR 117 to SR 46. The third project, located in Pulaski County, is worth more than $2.5 million and will resurface SR 230 from south of SR 27 to the Dodge County Line. The anticipated completion date for these projects is March 31, 2018.

These projects were advertised in March, bids were received on April 21 and contracts were awarded on May 5.
