Jimmie and Myra Willis celebrate 75 years

Jimmie and Myra Willis of Warner Robins

celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary with a reception at the home of their son. Jimmie married the

former Myra Adele Stubbs on January 16th, 1937 in Donalsonville Georgia.

The couple was seniors in high school in Colquitt Georgia, and eloped because

they were afraid to ask their parents. They began married life as farmers, but

World War II saw Jimmie shipped off to England as an aircraft mechanic. Myra

began a civil service career at Brookley field, Dothan Alabama and worked there

until Jimmie’s return. Jimmie transitioned into civil service and the couple relocated

to Warner Robins in 1946. Both retired from Robins Air Force base in 1976. They

still live in the home on Houston Lake Road where Jimmie maintained a 300 acre

farm until 2007. They are lifelong members of The First Methodist Church of

Warner Robins where Myra taught Sunday School for fifty years. They are the

parents of Jerry (Debra) Willis of Perry, and the grandparents of Tal (Jodi)

Willis of Savannah, Michael Willis of Columbia SC, and the late Karin Elizabeth

Willis.
