A logistics support organization here has been recognized as
a military unit of excellence.
The Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Center captured
DLA’s Global Distribution Excellence Award.
The center’s Performance Excellence Office also was named
the DLA Distribution Team of the Year. The office won the award in part for its
role in developing a new distribution center staffing model and reclaiming nine
F-15 wing fixtures, saving the government more than $101 million.
“Each team member touched every aspect of our distribution
center and distribution operations … leading to many successful events during
the year,” said Frank Holobinko, DLA Distribution Warner Robins director.
In addition to the two team awards, the distribution center
claimed the first-ever Phyllis C. Campbell Award for Superior Performance and
four individual honors. The Phyllis C. Campbell award recognizes a distribution
center or site for Global Distribution Excellence.
DLA Distribution is a field activity of the DLA. It operates
26 sites around the world and is responsible for the receipt, storage, issue,
packing, preservation and transportation of more than four million items.
