Turning 11 on 11/11

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — On Nov. 12, Lizzy House celebrated a very lucky, and once in a lifetime birthday. As a fifth-grade student at Quail Run Elementary School, her favorite subject is math, and her favorite number is 11, and for good reason.

Lizzy was born on Nov. 11, 2011: 11/11/11. She turned 11 years old this year.

Lizzy celebrated her birthday over the weekend in Byron, surrounded by her friends and family. She received plenty of gifts to mark the occasion, including stuffed animals, Roblox cards and lots of cash. Reflecting on the party with The Journal, she told us her gifts and being with loved ones was her favorite part of celebrating.

Eleven years earlier, Lizzy was born at 11:33 p.m; if you add up her birth numbers, they make up the number 33. Had she waited 27 minutes, she would have been born on Nov. 12.

Her family admitted they were hoping for her special birthday after an all-day hospital stay, as her grandmother, Brenda Bozard explained.

“10 o’clock at night came, and my daughter was still sitting there, laying in her bed. And 11 o’clock came and I’m like ‘you better push this baby out,’” Bozard said, jokingly. “And 33 minutes later, there she was.”

Lizzy is not the first in the family with a unique birthday. Another member of her family was born on Aug. 8, 1980: 8/8/80, and turned eight on 8/8/88. Bozard’s other grandchild was due on Dec. 12, 2012: 12/12/12. In the family’s eyes, Lizzy carries on their lucky number tradition.

“She’s very unique in that way, and she’s her own person,” Bozard said.

Lizzy said her friends love her birthday as much as she does, and growing up, her family knew she was remarkable. She is described as an “angel baby,” not only because of her birthday, but also her actions and personality.

Her family said she lights up the room when she walks in, has a radiant smile and is kind to everyone. A natural blonde streak in her dark brown hair also confirms their theory.

“She’s very caring of other people’s feelings,” Karen Phillips, Lizzy’s great aunt, said.

“And she loves her momma,” Bozard added, “She’s a momma’s girl, that’s for sure.”

Lizzy also believes the same as her family, confidently explaining her theory.

“One, because I have angel numbers: 11/11/11. Two, because I’m really nice and sweet to everyone. Three, [I’m helpful.] I try to do my best for everyone, like, if somebody can’t buy something … I’ll say ‘here’s ten bucks.’ So I’m really sweet to everyone,” Lizzy said.

“She’s constantly doing good for people, loving them,” Bozard added.

Overall, Lizzy’s family describes her as a blessing and heaven-sent, saying that the time she was born was only one of the many reasons why.

“I truly believe she is a gift from God, I really do,” Bozard said.

Phillips responded to Bozard, speaking on Lizzy’s honesty.

“You ask her anything, and she will give you her straight honest opinion, whether you like it or not,” Phillips said.

“She’s just transparent,” Bozard added.

Nowadays, Lizzy loves cheerleading, dancing, supporting her family, watching YouTube and will soon be a junior journalist at her school.

When she grows up, she wants to be a teacher or a fashion designer.
